12 years and counting...

We celebrated our 12th anniversary on July 10th. I can't believe how amazing our love is, and each year just keeps getting better! I was talking to my childhood best friend last night (we've been friends since we were 6) about how if you were to bet I probably wouldn't be the one of about 9 of us to get married and stay married. Crazy how life turns out, I didn't want to date Davi let alone marry him. I'm glad he knew better and has had so much persistence and patience with me over the years! Now I can't imagine what my life would have been like without him. Just like our wedding invitation said, "My Love, My Life, My Best Friend" for now and for eternity!

Finally a Name

With a landslide We named our Little Man Charlton Robert Hancock-Taylor. I love that Xadi picked it! After  the ultrasound back in Febuary Davi and I were discussing boy names we liked, we mentioned Charlie. I guess that was the one Xadi liked, that was it she called him from then on. We'd suggest another name and she'd say, "No, that be silly!" Finally about a month before she really started to like the movie Juniors Giants, the baby boy in the movie is Little Man, so we got her to start calling him that in case we didn't go with Charlie. She loves her baby brother.

Birth

I'm finally together enough to catch up on my posts... or at least attempt to.

I thought I'd start out with the birth story of our little man. On Friday the 19th I had this intense urge to get my house clean. Davi thought it was strange that I was exerting so much effort but I almost got it the way I like it! That felt good for being an incredibly slow 9 months prego! Then later that same night I was feeling strange (read-I'm about to have a baby strange). Davi had plans to go see a DJ from from out of town so he left about 10pm and I called him to let him know that things were afoot. Luckily, he was with our good friend Randy so his wife Jill became my backup while they were out. I had him stop at my Cousins house to pick up their old car seat and it's a good thing because we were needing it just 36 hours later!

That night getting all the critters to bed was a joke! They all wanted mommy loves and it was a struggle all the way till 2 am! Then, I woke up at 4am with contractions about 5 minutes apart, lasting 1-2 minutes. I got up, had a snack and waited for them to stop. With Xadi this happened all the time so I still wasn't thinking I was going to have a baby that day, but they just kept on going and finally around 5 I had Davi call his Dad to come and watch Xadi because I figured he'd already be up....he was. :) Then, it was off to the hospital to meet up with our amazing Doula (birth-coach) Claire and have this baby. She was awesome! I can't say enough how great it is to have an ambassador in the room that's there for you and has the experience to keep the staff from doing wacky stuff.

So here he is! Nothing like having a baby on 2 hours of sleep and no pain medicine whatsoever right? Ugh, hopefully I won't be doing that again. "Little Man" was born Saturday, June 20th. 12:03pm. I obviously got side-tracked on getting all the fathers day presents and cards I wanted to so to all the dad's in our lives: Happy Fathers Day! I hope you love your little present!
My little ones meeting for the first time.
